Editorial Standards

Contract-first, source-visible annuity education

Our editorial rules keep ownership education separate from product sales and make missing review evidence visible.

Scope and independence

We cover ownership, safety, exits, and consumer protection. We do not publish rate data, carrier profiles, product reviews, lead forms, quote funnels, or individualized recommendations.

Source order

For contract facts, the issued contract and current insurer records come first. For regulatory and guaranty information, we favor the responsible official state or federal source. Secondary explanations cannot override a primary record.

Review states

Structured registry rows must carry a review status. An unreviewed row is shown as pending independent review and cannot receive a reviewer chip. Reviewer identity appears only with a signed memo and written consent.

Dates and missing data

Data-bearing material displays the date of the underlying source event. Missing, pending, and unavailable information remains explicit; it is never converted to zero or filled with an assumption.

Corrections

Material corrections should identify what changed and when. Historical structured records are append-only, so a methodology or version change creates a new boundary instead of silently rewriting an earlier record.

People facts

Names, biographies, credentials, affiliations, titles, and reviewer credits require an approved primary source. If that evidence is absent, the person-specific element does not render.
